Lost Appeal Against Late SA

I had appealed against the fine and interest bcoz of fine for the late filing of my tax return. HMR did not accept my excuse and now i have 30 days either to ask for an Independent Review or appeal to HM courts and tribunal.

I was 6 months late in filing my tax return. The fine is 900 pound uptil now. I have already filed the tax return and payed the tax.

Is there any way i can cancel or atleast reduce the fine. Is it worth asking for an Independent Review or Appeal to HM Tribunal. They did not accept my last excuse so this time i should make a new excuse or stick to last one.

I will really appreciate urs precious advice and any question i will happy to answer.

Why were you 6 months late filing?

    I gave them 2 excuses

    1. I moved to a new address during this time and I was having problem receiving my mails. I even complained twice to Royal mail regarding that. I even send them the reference no. of my complaints so that HMR can confirm from Royal Mail.

    2. I did not know the exact procedure of filing the tax return and have to ask someones help to fill a tax return.

I agree with HMRC. Those aren't good excuses.

They will generally only accept something like serious illness which made it physically impossible to fill in the return.

You'd be better off doing what you can to get the £900 together.

instead of trying to invent lies, which may come back to bite you big style if you do go to Tribunal, why don't you accept that you made a mistake, man up to it, and concentrate on paying off the fine before it gets any bigger

    There are no good excuses.

There may in exceptional circumstances be good reasons.

I think the fact that this is not written in acceptable English actually helps, because it demonstrates that the individual struggles with standard English so will not have understood his or her legal obligations. Sadly without other reasons these will not get the penalty removed.

I did not knew as here according to u English is the eligibility criteria of being helped or not.

BTW the excuses i mentioned r genuine. By asking should i appeal to tribunal i meant should i appeal in same way or should i rewrite and explain in the different way.
