Won't Go Into Reverse Gear.

Car is a 1995 Pug 106 Diesel.
It will engage, but jumps out when clutch is fully out.
Is this a easy fix, or is it the end of the gearbox?
How much for a replacement? Forward gears are fine.
Your thoughts please.

Im thinking it may be the gearbox linkage or the engine mounts worn,the linkages are sometimes plastic with push on ends which dont hold up well so check those and the engine mounts before doing anything drastic.

If it fully engages then its possibly a synchromesh problem.

Fit a 2nd hand gearbox.

Reverse gears don't have synchromesh.

Ages back, my dad had a car that did that. He used a bungee cord to hold the gear stick which kept it in gear for reversing. Finally, reverse completely disappeared so he just didn't park where he needed to reverse.

Except some cars do. MT75 gearbox for one.
