How are you getting on with christmas shopping? Started yet?

I'm struggling for ideas for my partner (as always) as he just goes out and buys anything he wants . I'd appreciate any ideas I can steal so let me know what you are getting the men in your life.

I also need something for my sister, again ideas welcome.

Can you post some info to help us give you some ideas? How old are your partner and your sister? Don't want to suggest pipes and slippers for twentysomethings. What are they "into"? What don't they like? What is your budget?

My Christmas gifting is chugging along nicely - for the kids, at least. Frankly, all adults just buy what they want when they want it (if they can afford it). I've bought a bar of chocolate and a beer for my husband, for the sake of having a "token" wrapped gift. And I've knitted something for my sister. Unless you are much richer than the adults in question, I think a homemade gift is better than a shop bought gift - that way you'll know they definitely don't have it already!

Just started (am feeling behind this year) and finding people a bit of a struggle this year - possibly because I'm on a very tight budget! I always struggle with my OH as well, either he's bought everything already or the things he wants are out of my price range lol! It's his birthday in December as well so need to think of two lots of things to get him. He's recently started learning guitar so I'm thinking can maybe do a mini pack of things for that - though all I've thought of so far is strap and picks so suggestions welcome

For guitars, Home Bargains sometimes have the strings in. There is a device to make your own plecs that I've seen recently on the internet - I'll post a link if I can find it. You could also include a book of simple tunes with guitar chords - The Range sell them, as do independent music shops. You might be able to find free chords/music on the internet to print out, you can put them in a display book from the pound shop.

Im all done with mine just the odd few things as I find them / OH hints about but everything else is done - everyone in my family gets a hamper (got a few baking goodies to add just before christmas) OH gets stuff thats been hinted / needed over the last month or so and also trying to find a few gifts for our big holiday next year to add to the stocking

I always struggle with my boyfriend! So far all I've got him are a few xbox games and one of those head massager things (he always goes on about how amazing they are - I think they're horrible). He works away for 6 weeks at a time, so I was thinking maybe a photo album with pictures of me and his family in. He's such a pain though, he likes cycling and climbing but I don't understand enough about either to buy him anything without his help, and he won't help me because he thinks he should buy me lots of presents and I shouldn't buy him any. Not that that's a bad attitude...but you know.

I've more or less finished my sister's Christmas shopping, she's 14 though so I don't know if it'll be of any use to you?

Managed to finish my sisters present this weekend so she's sorted:D. Got a lovely stone oil lamp from a craft fair, just need to figure out where to get lamp oil from now:o

My partners interests are:

Watching local football team (small town)
watching England at rugby - he occasionally makes the trip down to Twickenham

Thats about it really:o

Thanks for the ideas, guys Unfortunately there's no Home Bargins near me now (I so miss it!) but will have a look at the other things.

OP - I don't know what your budget is but maybe match tickets, a history of his local club book or a club shirt? I saw posted on here a bit back a site that did retro football shirts for loads of clubs, like replica ones from the strip in the 60s and things, which I thought were really nice but they were a little out of my price range (think they were about £40 or something).
