Can I ask how many hours per week you work?

I dont have very many suggestions I'm afraid.
Is there any family members who could be able to help out with some childcare so that your wife could get a p/t job?

I would imagine that due to your wage you would ben entitled to some form of housing benefit?
I must confess I dont know much about the benefit system...apologies for that.

Have you contacted any of your creditors regarding payments? Or freezing interest for a period so you could make a dent into what you owe.

I was much like you when I got my first credit card, it was stupid and something I regret but I used it to make up for something that I wasn't getting somewhere else in my life.

Sorry I can't be much more help but everyone on the board will try their best xx

I work 40 hours, If the wife did go back full time (She worked part time in a shop) she'd loose her tax credits I think.

We signed up with Payplan they have been a good send, Interest is more or less frozen on all creditors apart from MBNA who like to be akward apparantly

Great - sounds like you can sort this then - its just waiting for some of the money to come in.

Also how old is your 1st child - you should be getting something from the working tax credits towards the nusery fees also is your 1st anywhere near the age for a free nursery place (I think it is 3 ??)

Also are your debts not being paid in with the £300 payplan fee ?? Apologies but not too sure how payplan works but I thought they paid your debts with the money you pay them so you shouldn't be paying anymore then the £300.00 you are already paying towards your debt. Does payplan include all your debts ??

You have the power to change things if you really want to fella. If you want a change in career then sit down and think about what you would like to do.

If you need to go back to 'school' it is a possibility that you could get your course and exams paid for. I don't know much about that route but I know others do.

It basically boils down to you. You can get the rewards if you put the effort in. It's just whether you want to or not.

I know I used the word YOU a bit there but you see the point I'm trying to make. ;)

Good luck whatever you decide.

Apparantly there are so many FREE child places at nursery and they've all been snapped up, We would take him out of it but he really enjoys going, he looks forward to it infact.

Payplan don't sort out all the debts, the like of the car we pay ourselves, they make allowences for this in you monthly income when they're working all out though.

We'll get through it I know, just feel a bit sorry for myself now and again, even though its our own fault we are in this mess, But theres a silver lining to every problem, and the silver lining to this is it has taught us to be a hell of alot more carefull with money, When your 18 and never had any money and the bank gives you a card for £500 your gonna go mad with it, then the bank kept raising the limit until it got to £3k and I was screwed.

Not sure about qualifications but you need to be assessed by Social services, and they are pretty tough. Its not impossbile though and can be a great job for the right person (not sure I could do it!)

    Hi,

There is a really good website - penaltychargesforum.co.uk where there is lots of advice on claiming back charges, not just from your bank but other companies as you mentioned that there are other companies charging you. It is a very good site with template letters, they helped me a lot.

    Good luck!
