Direct Debits?

Hope you can help me here and I have posted in the right place.

A DD was returned (£63 so many pence) the begining of this month as I didnt have enough money in the bank, so yesterday I rang them up to sort it, I explained I didnt have the money to give the straight away and if the amount I owed them could they spread that amount over the rest of the DD's (a debit £317.01) the lady on the phone sorted it out for me and said that my payments will now be £84 and so many pence as from 3 of may. This morning I checked my acount as I do most days and I less than £12 in the bank (i have to pay £65 rent and ger bit food shopping with this) they had taken 2 payments of £69.75p in one go I had a DD returned becuase of them a one for a smaller amount which 1, be charged off the bank for 2, chraged of them for it been returned.
I rang the bank, didnt want to know, I rang the place that took the money the first man promised to call back and didnt, the second person I spoke to had a right atitude (sp?) told me to concat the bank and cancell payments (eh? wft damaged done sweetheart ggrrr) to be honest she spoke so quick I couldnt catch what sh had said.
but basicaly saying they can and will take the money as and when they see if and can take up to 4 payment at anyone time, I couldnt get a word in edge wise. she told me to ring to see if payments have shown on their racords and if not sent them Via fax and they we refund me i think as said she spoke to quickly for me to catch. I know I have a few more DD's due and a couple of checks which I know with what I had would have covered so no dount I'll end up over drawn again and agian..
Sorry but this isnt good enough I need that money I feel sick with worry I havent ate all day because I cant stop thinking about it food i can mange till i get more the rent I'm worrying over.
Surely after I agreed that payments can start again on the 3rd of may they cant take them before hand? espiacly 2 payments at once.

They cannot take they money as and when they please - this woman is talking nonsense!!

Under the DD guarentee you must be informed in no less than 10 days of any changes to the payments or dates!!

Bearing in mind that you have made a verbal agreement with one mamber of staff and they have then taken what they have your bank are obliged to return BOTH DD's.

Call your bank back and tell them that you wish to claim back two debits under the DD guarentee. Dont take no for an answer

I now have my money back in the bank and i can pay my rent....and breath a sign of relief lol.
