10000 steps per day

I remember a few years ago I got a pedometer for free (think I sent off for it from Frosties
) and I decided to wear it on a day when I knew I'd be walking lots. At the end of the day I did a drum roll (I'm sad) and looked at the screen to see my result and it said 300 steps!! I'd obviously reset it by accident. I was so annoyed!
Anyway, keep up the good work! Any exercise is better than none

I've just bought the walk at home DVD. It's by Lesley Sansone. I bought the 2 mile version and I have to say it's fab!
I have no co-ordination and 2 left feet and this is just fabulous because of that. There are no fancy moves and it can be done in a very small space. The DVD lasts half an hour and if you keep up the pace, you cover the equivalent of 2 miles. You can start off by doing 15 mins if needed and then build up or you can split it into 2 parts.
I really am not one for recommending things like this but I feel this is worth a mention. It also only cost me £5.99 inc p&p off ebay so not greatly expensive!0 -
Make sure your pedometer is accurate. I was given one a few years ago at a time I used to walk a fairly long trip to and from work on a daily basis - after getting wildly different step totals for the same walk over the course of three days (I'm talking differences of nearly a thousand steps!) I decided it perhaps wasn't the most accurate of tools!
One thing I did do on that walk to work was time myself, and challenge myself to do it a bit faster each day - eventually I ended up getting my trainers on in the office and running home from work. So there are other approaches other than the step counting if that's not working for you?0
