Hi, since the dental pre payment certs were introduced (could have been about six years) I registered privately with a dentist who I knew well, I pay aprox £10 a month for the privaledge, I have had agoraphobia for four years and in that time Ive only been able to attend the dentist once, so I wondered if I could maybe claim some of my payments back as I can no longer use the service, as the dentist is miles from home. thankyou

Why did you keep paying £10/month if you knew you wouldnt be able to use the service?
I dont think you have any chance of getting nay refunds as the service was available to you, you didn't (couldn't) make use of it. The onus is on yourself to cancel the service.0 -
No.
The payments will be a sort-of membership scheme. The fact you've not been isn't the fault of the practice. If you'd have gone, the facilities would have been there for you.
Unlike gym memberships though, these agreements are very easy to cancel, and would only have needed a phone call or a letter to stop.
If you're thinking of cancelling it now - it might be worth having a trip there first just to make sure everything is healthy and stable. If anything is wrong, you might as well get it fixed before ending the agreement. How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0
