Wrong Employment year on application (Reference check)

Hi all.

I recently got a new job that I am due to start in December. Based on referenxe checks. I have noticed I have made a mistake on the original applixation and put that I started a previous job in 2006 however I wasnt put onto the books until early 2007. It is a silly mistake but I got confused as I was self employed either side of this job.

Will this error result in my new employers withdrawing their offer? I will get good references from previous jobs but putting the wrong year must be deemed a bad mistake.

Thanks for any help.

Tony

    TBH,

I think you should ring them up and tell them !

Any decent employer should recognise that

    1) it was a mistake and
    2) You are honest enough to fess up and
    3) If your good enough you will get the job anyway.

I'd do this, too. If you're confident of getting good references, that should matter more than a mistake you made on your application form.
