Best root lift treatment for fine thin flat hair?

I have very thin fine hair and it got even thinner recently due to side effects from of some medicine I was taking (now finished thank goodness).
I urgently want to restore some volume to my hair. Volumising shampoo makes it a bit thicker but does not stop it lying flat on the top of my head where it iis thinnest, particularly along my parting.
I am wondering if a root lift treatment would help. Thing is there are lots on the market at a wide range of prices. Can anyone with similar hair problems, recommend one?

Hi,
I had gallbladder probs and this made my hair fall out (not all though!)
I don't know about a root lift treatment (sorry) but I use a Babyliss Big Hair (rotating brush hairdryer thing) and it makes my limp hair massive. I also use Lush "Roots" which is a pre wash treatment and that seems to help too."I am not a vegetarian because I love animals; I am a vegetarian because I hate plants." A. Whitney Brown0 -
Do you use conditioner on your roots? If you do then I would try not doing that and see if it helps. I also have very fine hair and use volumising shampoo and conditioner but don't put the conditioner as far up as the roots. I put it in from further down, leave it for a couple of minutes and then comb it through before rinsing. Obviously when I comb it through some of the conditioner goes on the roots but it's not there for long.3 stone down, 3 more to go0

I find products for lift just seem to weigh my hair down or make really greasy looking.
My baby fine limp and disagreeable hair has only had one thing work for it and it was:

I can do in a few seconds with a tiny squirt of hair spray at the roots so no product overload. Looks great and it stays all day.
Did take a bit of tinkering to get the hang of it (namely around the face so the waves don't show) but because now I have it down pat I can do so quickly and its just looks ace.
(ps the OH likes it too as my hair is not sticky, filled with goo or snaggy)Please note I have a cognitive disability - as such my wording can be a bit off, muddled, misspelt or in some cases i can miss out some words totally...0 -
I've found Batiste dry shampoo helps give my hair a good "lift" - maybe worth a shot?0

I totally agree with that root booster, I just bought it from Argos store for £16.99 yesterday
Grab it while it's cheap!!0 -
I've got fine hair but a lot of it - still lies flat to my head. I get better results if I bend my head over so hair falls down while I blow dry it. Make sure you get it thoroughly dry before you stop blow drying it.0

This and also when you don't wash your hair that day do the same with Batiste. Bend head over spray the Batiste to your roots - from the back of your head to your front, rub it in, brush it and flick your hair back.
That Babyliss thing may not be good if you've got very fine hair or had some hairloss near your parting as it may show the crimpled bits. I have very fine hair and can see this happening with mine.0 -
If you can find a Sally's near you, they sell OSIS products and they have a root lifter which is quite unique, there may be other stores which sell this but I'm not 100%. I know it's available online too in a few online boutiques though.0

I've just bought my 2nd bottle of Aussie "Aussome Volume" conditioner. I've tried lots this last few months (my hair is getting thinner as I get older
) and this is the only one that leaves my hair detangled without weighing it down.
Then if I need a lift later in the day I use a Charles Worthington or John Freida dry shampoo at the roots, they smell the best and do a good job.0
