Just called up parcelforce again to ask about the compensation and they said their claim dept deals with each case differently and there is possibility that they refund item value upto 150 and postage. But the lady on the phone said she cannot comment anything since i can only know when i file in my claim.
so looks like there is a possibility. Can only know for sure when it gets processed since two different custmer service agents have said two different things .

Make sure that you keep copies of all documents you send to parcelforce ( in case they misslay them !!!) and send recorded delivery just in case.
Hope your parcel was not perishable....it will have travel further than Tescos runner beans !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have sent in my claim today using recorded delivery and with copies of everything. Nothing original incase they lost that also.

Lets see how they process it. I just wish my parcel reaches correct address or comes back to me.

My gran sent a parcel to my sister in Ireland at the beginning of November one year...it disappeared and my gran started correspondence about a claim. My aunty posted a parcel to the same address at the beginning of December, and a further parcel was sent on the 20th of December. All three parcels were delivered together on the 10th of January. What a service!
