Majestic's generous offer to the Scots

Have you noticed Majestic's offer to the Scots? They can buy single bottles, at the discount price the English & Welsh pay when buying two bottles. Totally unfair to their English & Welsh customers.
For example, if you wished to assemble one dozen individual wines, of modest price, then, your Scottish bill would be approximately £20 cheaper, than if purchased in England & Wales! There is something fundamentally wrong with this situation. Something to do with Scottish Law!
Time to talk nicely to those Scottish relatives, and ask them buy on your behalf. Even with £10 postage per dozen bottles, you will still save a tenner"

In Scotland you cannot promote multi purchase of alcohol. If you sell a alcoholic drink individually it must the same price as if you were to buy it in multiple volumes. I do think it works to reduce sales...i rarely buy 3x bottles of wine as you no longer get 3 for £10. So its not all great deals to the Scots, no happy hours here anymore, no 2 for 1 drinks offers. Although the prices have gone up on the average wine. Scotlands minimum alcohol price policy will come in to effect in the new year I think, increasing prices again.0

Initially Tesco and Asda went around the 3 for £10 restriction by offering each bottle at £3,33. I haven't checked recently but it might be the case (ahem!) again.0

We are not talking about 'dross'- simply considering the advantage Majestic would have to offer Scottish customers, should they wish to buy single bottles of quality wine. 'South of the Border' customers would see a significant cost reduction per bottle, only if they opt for a multiple purchase of the same wine.
Sounds ridiculous doesn't it. Buy single bottles, and, 'on-sell' cheaper than Majestic 'over the border'. That is why I cite the 12 mixed bottle consignment, as a discussion point.
Come on you 'canny Scots' there has to be mileage in pursuing such a scheme.0
