Hi Guys, had a thread on motoring forum ref my car key buttons stopping working and looks now like I may need an auto spark to reprogram or get me a key, really dont want to go to ford and have tried everything on the forum. Anyone any further ideas which may fix, or a good recommendation for an auto spark to fix at a reasonable cost? Thanks..

Have you tried changing the battery in the key fob?0

My key stopped working, went to a local motor factors & they replaced key battery for £3.50. That was all it needed.0

Yeah tried new cr2032 batteries which it takes, still no joy. The fact it beeps when I press button in learn mode makes me believe the battery is fine too.. Thanks..0

I'd be inclined to bite the bullet then and take it to a Ford Main Dealer. You'd need to be sure it isn't the key that's at fault.0

Not sure if this would work , but on some cars you have to open the door with the key and press the "open" button on the fob a few times to sync it , when you change the batteries.0

I had similar problem with my mk1 03 focus a good while ago.
I'd tried recoding the key in the car myself with the master key with no luck.
Then I came across instructions which resets the receiver control box which does the unlocking. Like most technology which is permanently on it seems it can play up after a while and needs reset. This worked for me!Look under the drivers side dashboard.
Under there attached on the right hand side right is a box which should say SIEMENS.
This is the remote control signal box.
Remove the cables attached to it and leave it for approx 1hr.
Go back to the car after an hour and put the cables back in.
Its an easy job and you cant go wrong.
It will work straight away.
Mines been fine and works perfect since

Try this - works for me when I replace battery in key fob:
With the key in the ignition, turn the ignition on to the I position, then off and then again three times, then once more and leave it at I. A beep will sound showing that the system is set to program.
Now press the unlock button on the remote. Press the unlock button on any other remotes that you have to program at the same time.
Now turn the ignition off. A beep will sound indicating that program mode is finished.
if that doesn't work try this:
Insert the ignition key and turn from position II (Ignition) to position 0 (All off) and back four times within three seconds.
Remove the ignition key. The locking control system is now in "learn mode" for the next 20 seconds and the red warning system LED (By the clock) stays on continuously to indicate this.
During the 20 seconds press one of the transmitter buttons. The remotes signal and code number is learned by the locking module and is indicated by flashing the warning system LED.
Wait until learn mode times out (20 seconds) or switch the ignition back to ON.0 -

Hi Quixers, could the box be under the passenger side dashboard where the fuse box is?May need to try this as ford are now telling me I need a new Gem module costing about £500!! Thanks..0 -
Before you do anything even close to spending £500 check ebay for "Ford Key Repair"
I , in a moment of weakness , bought a Renault Scenic and soon got keycard not recognised(or something like that error and was quoted nearly £800 by renault (worst case scenario)
To cut a long story short I sent the key away and had it open and repaired for £25.00.
This may or may not help you but if you contact them with your "symptoms" I am sure they could advise if it is something they can fix!0
