Yes you should be getting child tax credit, even on income support as far as I know. check out https://www.entitledto.co.uk and input your details and it will tell you what you should be getting

I think the following bills are quite high, Ill do a comparison for you (Im in a 2 bed new flat, in the south, 2 people)

    you

    water £43 per month
    electric £86 per month
    phone/internet £86 per month

    me

    water £17.50 per month
    electric £29 per month
Phone & broadband £36 per month

this is what is making me think these bills are too high for you, are you in arrears? Check out changing suppliers and go on quidco for the cashback

Unfortunatly for the OP that isn't the case.

Looking at the amount of income support and child benefit she gets I presume she is a lone parent who has 2 children. (the amounts are similar to what I get)

It looks as though she is getting Income support under the old system, that is aprox £56 a week for her and £35 a week for the each of the kids (do you have some deductions from you Income support for a social loan or something like that?)

Under the new system you get £56ish for an adult from income support and then the rest of your money is made up by child tax credits. You can't get money for kids from both Income Support AND Child Tax Credits. Which ever system the OP gets her benefits paid it will always work out to be the same amount. And on the face of it it does look as though she is getting the correct amount of benefits.

Hi LuckyMum, I'm going to do a bit of re-arranging so everything is showing weekly...

    i currently owe
    vanquis £378.73
    grattan £9.76
    scotcall recovery £59.02
    npower £305.61
    great universal £145.25
    kays £311.57
    ndr recovery £729.74
    provident £1400.

    current debt total £3339.68.

i am on income support which is £122.57 per week and also £30.20 child benefit.

    Weekly Income: £152.77

    Outgoings
    water rates £10
    tv licence £4
    food £30
    electric £20
    scotcall £5
    phone ,internet £20
    provident £30
    great universal £2.31
    ndr £3.46
    kays £1.15
    visa £4.62

    TOTAL: £130.54

So, by my reckoning, you should have £22.23 left per week, but I'm guessing you don't.

There's nothing on your SoA for rent or mortgage, council tax, or for clothes for you & child(ren), travel etc, so I'm guessing this is where the other money goes.

Can you list all the aprs of the debts too please? If you don't know them, have a look at the statements and multiply the monthly amount by 12 to get the apr.

A spending diary will help you keep on track of every little thing throughout the week, as often it's the little things that build up to push us over the debt edge!

as well as finding out if you are entitled to any other benefits, have you looked into reclaiming your bank charges and then loading that into your debts. starting with the smallest and working your way up.

im new to this myself but ive sent my charges letter off and plan to pay off my lowest loan (£1,600) with the charges if/when i get them back. You could try something similar. im no expert tho
