Sounds like basic cookery lessons might be a good present, if she is able to cook but lacks the confidence to try making new things. There are lots of lessons available for all sorts of cookery styles at varying levels, check out your local college as a starting point. Most seem to be fairly short courses, so not a huge time commitment - probably a handful of evenings or a couple of weekend days.
Otherwise, how about one of the recipe books suggested, plus the ingredients (or at least, the wrap-able ones) for one or two of the more interesting recipes? You could always add in a voucher for a joint cooking session with you to have a go at them, if you feel confident enough in your own cooking ability!Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!0 -

The binders have plain sheets for you to write out and design own recipe cards as well as pouches to shove inspirations torn from food magazines.
I'm making one of those for DS's teacher! I think she'll love it. I got mine from K TWO, not sure if the CAKE5 code is still working for the cupcake recipe file, worth a try though.0 -

Hi
Can I suggest one or two meal-plans?
What Jocasta Innes used to call planned eating. When you are just one, cooking anything large means eating it for days or freezing most and then forgetting it is there for ages. Also most bought in sauces and condiments go off long before the singleton has finished them unless you plan.
Planned eating would have say two or meals a week that can be cooked in bulk and then the basic recipe used in different ways (simple pasta sauce, in lasagne, baked potato filling) over the next say three weeks, then a couple of things that are quick and use similiar ingredients (so half today's boiled or steamed potatoes end up in a hash or tortilla on Wednesday say) and a store cupboard basics. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
I'm sure theres a thread on here or two with recipes for singles I'll try searching in a mo..
Thats a lovely present idea for your sister if you do a search for free printable recipe cards you'll find heaps of pretty ones you can print off for adding to the file too
