Poor Credit

Since i moved to my new house i don't seem to be able to get credit.
Do they still look at the address when doing a credit score? I moved into my new place in september and since then i've had debt collecters round and alsorts for the man who used to live there.
if thats not the reason can anyone give me any tips on improving my credit rating?
Thanks

Are you on the electoral register at your new address yet - if not, that could be the reason, because it does have a significant effect on credit scoring etc."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250

you need to check your credit records with the three agencies to see what they say and as Snaggles says make sure you are on the electoral roll.0

How frequently have you moved house as lenders want to see that you're secure and not likely to move and not tell them your new address...Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

Make sure you've closed off any old credit cards etc, as one thing they look at is how much available credit you already have. Also, the number of credit searches you've had in the past couple of months could be held against you as they leave a footprint & lenders may worry that you're over stretching yourself or are panicking.
As Clapton says though, best thing is to have a look at your report & see what's on thereTotal Debt 13th Sept 2006 (exc student loan): £6240.06

This has the information you need:
http://money.uk.msn.com/planning/debt/letters.aspx
In particular, you want to get a copy of you credit record from all three agencies, check it is right, and if necessary disassociate yourself from any previous occupant.
DO NOT APPLY FOR MORE CREDIT BEFORE YOU HAVE CHECKED YOUR CREDIT RECORD. If you have too many credit searches, it looks like you are desperate for credit and this itself can prevent you from getting credit.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”
