I'm currently in debt with my credit card, ( cut up for the past 3-4 yrs)
I fell pregnant and informed them that my financial situation would change dramatically within the next coming months and that I would struggle to make the payments they required. That was nearly 2 years ago. Now, every 3 months I have phone calls to do a financial assesment of my afforability and they then tell me how much I can afford to pay. I have been paying £32 for the past 3 months and now have received a letter telling me its my final opportunity to pay the remainding balance or it will be forwared to a debt collection agentcy whicn could result it collectors visitng my home and/or legal procedings.
I'm now at my wits end as to what I can do, I can't afford anymore than I'm paying as my circumstances have not changed.
Can anyone advise me on the next step? Surely if I'm paying something its better than nothing? I'm so worried that they will forward it to collection agency and they will take my possesions.
Any advice is gratefully received.

I would reply to the letter by letter you have been sent that you are unable to meet the terms of the letter to pay full balance due to no change in circumstances. Tell them you never missed a payment {if this is right} that you paying the sum agreed £32, also ask them to freeze interest rate too! {you can only ask}. If it goes to a debt collection dept, it would still mean that you will provide a financial statement; you will pay a comfortable monthly figure if you are able to do so.. Work out your priority debts rent/council tax, utilities etc... There are things that can be done, if these debt collectors hassle you by phone, etc... hope this helps good luck, do try not panic it could be a standard letter trying to get you to pay up etc..I think these credit card companies so easy to give you credit but not so easy to help people when they need it, also that the credit crunch people not get the cash as they may done etc..0

If the debt is forwarded to a DCA then you can continue to pay them what you can resonable afford. It dosent have to be a bad thing if you are reasonable and dont miss payments.0
