Pre Planning for first time Mortgage application

Friend of mine is 22, stable job, stable unmarried relationship has some deposit saved up. Planning to apply for joint mortgage with b/f in about 6 months time.

Will be moving from current address to new rented accom at a known address in a couple of weeks.

They have opened a save to buy account at nationwide

I am not a mortgage advisor but have suggested:

Getting on electoral register at new address asap.

Transferring bank details and mob phone contract to new address asap.

Applying for (and using sensibly) a credit card (currently doesnt have) Any suggestions for which one??

Sending off for £2.00 satutory report.

Signing up here for some direct advice!

Anything else they should consider to get going??
