Hi All,
Has anyone had any problems with Welcome Finance?
I have had a loan with them for a few years now and still owe them £400. Over the past year I have been on a low income job, working all hours to try and get a decent wage, 50-60 hr weeks sometimes, and still getting below £1000.
In June I informed Welcome Finance I could only afford £5 a month token payment until i got myself right, instead on my £64 a month payment. Welcome refused this and started making threats saying if I dont pay, people will be knocking on my door and the charges could go up. I told them I was willing to pay £5 til im sorted every month and could pay £5 on the phone there and then, they refused. After more scare tactics, I asked to speak to a manager who said they would send out an income and expense form. I filled this out and sent a copy of my bank statement as they requested. A week later they rang again, refusing my form saying they had issues with my bank statement. The account manger called me a liar about my working tax credits as It had been reduced but the last credit was for a higher amount, i informed him that it had been reduced and gave him the letter reference number. He then questioned payments I had made, Amazon £10 and ITunes £2.99. I stated that I tunes was money I got for my birthday and Itunes was 3 songs!!! He said if I could afford that I can afford to pay more. He friend in the background heard all this and said quietly that he is out of order. Straight away he started questioning who was in the background and what was she doing in the house as im down as single on there records. I snapped and said he was taking the P**S and hung up. I complained to them and this of coarse went in there favour, I now have case with the FO against them. I was advised to see my local CAB who carried out an income and expense form for me and they stated they recommend I pay a token payment of £1 a month but i was willing to pay £5. I thought things went well as Welcome sent me a token payment form to fill out a week after. Since this, I still got calls, with the account manger shouting at me a demanding money making threats etc. I have kept paying £5 since, til im back on my feet. Over the past months I have kept a log of calls, texts and letters received from them. I have requested on 4 occassions to only be contacted by letter and to have my number removed from there records and to have confirmation of this. I still get calls and no letters, except ones asking me to ring them??? Do they understand?? I informed them that under the OFT guidelines state a customer has the right to say how they want to be contacted. Still getting call!!!
Has anyone had a similar experience with Welcome and any advice?
Regards
Craig

Hi, i have a simular thing happen with welcome, i currently owe just over 6k and offered them £40 per month from my reg payment of £238 as i was layed off, i batteled for months with them, they put a ccj on me, i went to cab but welcome will just reject anything they say as they will say something like we dont listen to them. now i just pay £20 per month
The only reason i got this was they passed it to debt collecter who was more reasonable. Welcome will not listen to you or anyone else all they want is full payment and not a penny less. basicly there way is if you cant pay that is your problem now wheres our money.
All i can say is good luck you will need it0 -
They insisted I went to CAB. So I took there advice. They said they would escalate my account in September to a debt collection agency, but so far I have had nothing. Im keeping in contact with the FO, and send them up to date diaries. I keep paying my £5 and get text receipts.0

it was a few years ago i done this so maybe things have changed, they refused cab in my case as they said the same £1 token payments, but they also would not accept my offer either0 -
no wonder they are in serious troubles themselves and getting 1000s of complaints a year0

It's typical Welcome Finance to be honest.
Persist with your complaint. Soldier on and pay what you can afford and no more no matter what. Don't let the fools get to you.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
