If you need to be married to live in quarters then a quick registry office ceremony will set you back about £50
If you want a big white wedding, then start saving and maybe once the rest of your debt is paid, then you begin to start the savings for that one off expense, I should say you would be able to get married in about 10 years time.
Or you could get it all done and out of the way for under a £100 so you can move and save on housing costs, and paying your debt back, once it is paid you can save up for a 'ceremony' for you friends and family to attend.
the question is, do you want to marry him, and have a big wedding so your nearest and dearest can celebrate with you and end up in debt.
Or do you want to marry him so you can enjoy your life together.
The two things are not the same and if you are only after the big party then I would avoid it and stay as you are.

My wedding cost about £100 - it was only that much because we lived in separate areas and wanted the registrar to attend the church. We are no less married. The church (of which my husband was a member) provided a buffet afterwards, that cost us nothing, the service cost us nothing, and all our friends were invited. Weddings do not have to be expensive!0

Totally agree - 1st wedding was no expense spared - the parents paid and it was several £000 - what a waste - lasted a short time. 2nd time around DH and I paid - £200 in total over 30 years ago!!
You really need a wake up call - you have an income that can allow you to live very comfortably but you seem to be locked in the "must have now" scenario. Put the wedding on hold or do it cheaply - and knuckle down and get your debts paid. If you are like this now, don't kid yourself that it will get better - you need to take control!!0 -
The fact that you want "something left over for a wedding" says it all really. My wedding cost about £300, for everything. You could actually spend less than this to get married. You don't need over 3k for a wedding.
Your chances of a 15k loan are practically nil. The info on both credit files in addition to the Payday Loans have put paid to any chance you might have had.
My suggestion would be to get married as cheaply as possible and to sit down and look at your spending. A loan isn't the solution.0 -
OP, there is good advice on this thread. May I suggest that you take it.
Especially the bits about wanting to have an expensive wedding.
Face the facts, you cannot afford to have one, and more to the point, you don't need to have one.
You are just as married with a £200 wedding as you are with a £10,000 one.
You can always have a flashy anniversary further down the line, when you have got your debts under control.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0
