Royal Air Force Claim

Hi,
I am currently serving in the RAF, and I am now being told that the RAF are going to re-claim money from me that was approved for payment in Nov 2004.
The claim I made was called an AIP (Advanced Incerement in Pay) which when submitted jumps your pay up one level, and the claim can only be made with a relevant quailfication.
At the time the qualification I used was accepted by the RAF's administration section and signed off by at least two of their personnel, one of which would have been at least of a Sargeant or above.
They have not yet calcualted how much I would potentially have to pay back, but I assume that it will be at least 2 to 3 thousand pounds.
Is this legal? Do I have a leg to stand on if I fight this?
Incidentally, I am among many other personnel that are being hit for this repayment.
Please can you help.
Regards,
Stephen N.

I hate the Mail, but this story may give you a starting point

Hi again,
Thank you for the link to the Mails article!
I have now found that the issue is the Qualification that I submitted Aeronautical Engineering Craft Studies Part 3 is not the same as Aeronautical Engineering Part 3 Certificate!
As City and Guilds charge £34 to see the differences (if any), can anyone shine a light on this issue?

I would say its a fairly cheap £34 in comparison...0

There is plenty info within the RAF to answer your question or post on e- goat.0
