2 Orange Defaults

Hello
I need some advice.
I had 1 business account with Orange and took out a second phone which they registered as a completely different account with them. Now both accounts got into a bit of a mess and payments were missed.
I received no phone calls from Orange to state they are unable to take payments etc. Accounts were passed to and from DCA companys. In the end i have no settled all accounts with Orange or the DCA nominated and all accounts are clear.
I checked a few months ago and my credit report stated i had a default.
After several phone calls to orange they advised me to email the credit referrals team... Which i did with a standard response of "Our reports are correct.... they remain for 6 years"
So i logged back into my credit report to find that 1 has been logged in 08/2012 with a big D for the sum of £118 and now a SECOND one has been logged for the 09/2012 for the sum of £0
The account status is now sat at "Satisfied" Not settled.
Can anyone offer any advise on this please.??
I have read around several forums stating some successful and some not. I have tried the sympathy email with no luck but will continue to email them.
I understand my account was a bit messed up. But its all paid up now. I didnt ask for any of it to be written off etc. and for the sum of £118 to reflect on my credit rating for 6 years. Not for 1 but now 2 defaults?
Surely the 2nd default is incorrect and where do i stand?
Thanks

Were there 2 separate accounts that were sent to DCA?0 -
I think from what you said in the OP, there were 2 accounts and in that case, then each account would carry it's own default.0

Really one or two accounts here? Literately separate accounts on your credit report?
Or is it just one with more than one D status?
When reading your report don't confuse a series of monthly status reports showing a "D" each month with multiple defaults if that may be what you are seeing.
For example on one account you may have a default registered once. Then each month after that while unsettled, it will have it's status code recorded as a D or 8. That is not another default added on top. It's just an update on the status of the original.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Thanks for the replies. Looks like it may be what the above poster has stated.
Any reason why this would she showing as satisfied and not settled?.
Any advise on applying for this to be removed at all.
Looking to move im out next month and im guessing this would effect me renting?
Thanks0 -

Doesn't 'satisfied' mean that you broke the agreement but eventually paid up; whereas 'settled' means the account was closed without any payment problems? Does there need to be a technical default for 'satisfied' rather than 'settled' to be recorded?'

Are you hoping to dodge the 'satisfied' label by claiming you didn't receive a default notice?0 -
Well on the grounds that i spoke to orange on several occasions and asked if i just pay instead of being reconnected untill the end of my contract will this have any effect on me or my credit rating? Both orange and the DCA said several times it wouldnt make any difference how i paid it.
I offered them several times that i will reconnect, pay and disconnect in the right way if this will be an issue and again both confirmed this was not neccessary if i just wanted the contract to end anyway
Have they misinformed me here?0 -
If you defaulted then you defaulted, and that would be recorded. Makes no difference what you later do.
The only real question may be was it fair for them to register a default in the first place?
That is hard to say, as your explanation of the circumstances that resulted in the defaulted payments are quite vague and confusing.
If you were defaulted purely as a result of Orange's errors/mistakes which you could not have possibly avoided or remedied then you may have a case. However, if you did not keep proper track of your account and checked that everything was paid OK when it should have been, then your case would be significantly weakened.
If you think the default was unfair then complain formally in writing to Orange, stating that you wish a final response from them that you can take to the Communications Ombudsman and the Information Commissioner.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Should i have received any notice from Orange? E.G 14 days to rectify the situation or a default will be logged etc?
Or can they just place this default and never notify me of it. Like ive said ive only been notified of this default because i paid for a credit report.
All Honesty.... Yes maybe i should have maintained the accounts better and kept up to date. But i do not feel that sufficient contact was made with me to be able to change the status of the account.
Eg. No telephone calls, recorded letters etc. They would have no records of me receiving any of their correspondence.
I feel that for the 3 phones i had with them that are all paid off. I do feel that a £118 default is harsh, justified or not, with the age me being and the effect its going to have.
Ive cleared all other credit cards and outstanding amounts and then only to find my credit rating has actually now gone DOWN. Due to this.
Any advice on what i can include in a letter to plead with them. ??
I must state that i have emailed them regarding this to have a standard response so far. Thats all.0
