Groceries includes all of household stuff, cat food & litter and cigarettes (which will be stopping) same here
other travel is taxis to work for me, i don't drive and my husband can't take me and bring me back from work due to shifts but i am going to attempt to get as many lifts as possible to avoid this
really need to look at life assurance as we just took out what came with the mortgage but really worried about messing it up same here
we'll probably re-evaluate birthdays and christmas and i'm already working on making my own gifts
entertainment is mainly travelling to see my mum and sisters who live quite a way away same here and associated spending, we have cinema cards which we paid yearly upfront so this is not something we are currently paying and eating out is a big expense but we will be working on that
and we are absolutely in it for the long haul
Wow i can't believe how similar things are!!!!!
You will get through this, and in fact the journey is quite an exciting one when you get used to cutting back....DEBT FREE AND PROUD'Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt'0 -

Took me 9+ years - if I can do it ..... it is tough at first as you're used to just spending what you want to without thought / just handing over a c/card but it does get easier and you do actually appreciate things a lot more.
I used to get a takeaway every Friday night - my treat for working hard all week - when I started my DF journey, I changed it to once a month (make sure you still have a wee treat now & then & budget for it - but it has to be small!) - and honestly I enjoyed them so much more .... same with the *bucks coffee on the way to work that I used to have every morning ...... notice a pattern!Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Hi Angel,
Didn't want to read and run - you seem to have your head in the right place to make the changes you need to, all the very best of luck!!! It's so worth it in the end!
About food shopping, I have become (since the debt problems) the 'food police' according to my hubster! I feed 2 of us for £120 a month from m&s (I know it's posh, but I can't help myself, it's too nice lol!).
We used to do a big 'monthly' shop, but ended up spending just as much popping in for a loaf/milk/cigs etc. Now we do an 'almost weekly' shop - I can get 6 meals for £20 from m&s with incidentals (loo roll, cleaning stuff from poundland etc) for an extra £10 a month. We always come in under budget which means we're allowed a takeaway as a treat!
Also trying to quit smoking (for the last 3 years!), but in the meantime I've saved hundreds by smoking rollies - not as convenient, but I save at least £150 a month.
Hope these tips help - all the very best of luck in your journey!!!

As has been said your entertainment & food are both really high.
