Anyway eventually got hold of the telephone number for the Hardship Team 0800 652 4320 who were absolutely fantastic...
Thanks for this, I decided to give them a call too.

The lady I've spoken was very pleasant and told me that they accept the DMP offer for 12 months and next payment is inline with the StephChange schedule so that's a good start.

All charges have been frozen and they have dropped interest to 12.0% apr. This means that I will just about be keeping parity each month by my reckoning so not so good. I think I will appeal their interest rate once I've received a statement showing 1 months interest at the new rate - then I can properly calculate how long the debt would take to pay off at that rate.

Incidentally she also offered me a discount if I come in to any money and can pay off the total amount.

    ** EDIT **

Just found the Which? repayment calculator which tells me it will take 14 years to repay at this rate. Must be worth an appeal?

    Hi Guys

Do you have an address by any chance for the hard ship department.
My DMP has been accepted by creation without a problem for the past 3 years, however they have always been unwilling to freeze interest no matter how many times I have asked.
I currently pay them £5.00 per month and they add £4.95 per month in interest therefore I reduce my £1000 debt by 5p per month. So I am probably looking at never repaying them :(
  • I spoke with my DMP company this morning regarding my problems with Creation. They were quite sympathetic and offered the following information. (These are my words, not theirs!) Creation is known in their office for this kind of behaviour. Creation often rejects DMP proposals and / or continues to apply charges to accounts. This is a technique designed to get you to favour them over other creditors and to encourage you to make proportionately larger payments to them. There is very little if anything that the DMP companies can do in these situations. Keep making your proposed payments and pursue their complaints procedure and a complaint with the Ombudsman.
I’ve posted a letter of complaint this morning and will await the response before deciding whether to pursue a complaint with the Ombudsman.

mj99 .... who is your DMP with??? When I spoke with the hardship team they said they had a very good relationship with both Payplan and CCCS (now stepchange) Please dont say you are paying a fee charging company for DMP........

Freshstart2012 the address for the Hardship Team is -

    The Hardship Team
    Creation Financial Services
    Chadwick House
    Blenheim Court
    Solihull

edit ... apologies have just re read ur 1st post I see it is with Payplan :) pheww lol ....I would still advise giving the hardship team a call.... as its a credit card it may be that belfast (who deal with the credit card side) are not fully aware of ur dmp and that payplan are managing your account....this did happen to me initially a call to the hardship team in birmingham sorted it all tho.

    Hi

Thanks for that, I have written to that address before but never addressed the envelope as Hardship Team. Fingers crossed.
