Sherforce bailiffs came to my door, unfortunately I just admitted my debt, was terrified as i,m on my own with a young child.
He made me write down I would pay £30pm by standing order or they would take my car.He gave me a walking possession order,he told me was a court official.
Ok have paid them £30 today, and have rung national debtline for advice, think I am even more worried now if that,s possible.
They say sherforce can take car at any time as they will deem £30pm insufficient.I don,t really understand a lot of it but it appears even if I go to court, sherforce can choose to not accept any court proposals and as they have to be informed of me seeking help may decide to seize car to cover some losses.
Debtline have advised me to park a few streets away as the car is now legally theirs until debt paid off.
I was going to keep it in garage but am unsure whether they have the right to enter my house/garage to get it regardless.
Do I have any rights left to refuse them entry if they come again, from what I can see me admitting debt has caused a lot of problems,I did,nt have any ideas of what my rights were/are and I had visions of him coming in with my child there.
I have been on benefits for last 3 years and have literally just started work 4weeks ago,I got into a right mess financially and ignored the letters that were sent to me regarding the debt.
My head feels like it is literally exploding with anxiety and I am breaking out in the sweats even at work.
I wonder if anybody can tell me what direction I should go in,I understand I have to send some papers to court, however I am bit concerned as to how long it will all take,as I am literally going out of my mind.
Has anybody been in the same position,I am pretty jumpy and keep thinking the bailiff is back and it does seem I can,t stop them coming back if they choose.
I have finally told a member of my family,so at least I have told someone,I feel so flipping ashamed and scared really.
Just wondering what will happen to me?
Thank you for any response anyone has to give.

The debt is my previous workplace, they say they have overpaid me after I left.Original debt £1200,with Sherforce it,s now £2997.
Thank you for consumer link, had,nt heard of them so shall have a look now.
My car is probably worth £600.0 -
So they got a ccj against you and, as it's for more than £600 they can use transfer it to the High Court and use High Court Enforcement Officers.
Doesn't sound like levying the car is going to be the end of it. ND recommend an informal agreement or applying for a stay of execution.

I would also ask for a full breakdown of the total sum owed, because there are strict rules on the fees they can apply, and you might find a few extras have been added on.
Once you have that information, and have got advice on which fees are legal and which should be removed, enter into an agreement to pay, producing statements of income and expenditure to help you with that.
Then stick to it. If something goes wrong, make sure you contact them immediately.
Good luckSome days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....
