Daybreak feature on Moneysaving Dad

Did anyone see the Daybreak feature this morning on the Dad who does the grocery shopping, he sticks to the list etc
There were Mum and Dad and three children and their weekly shopping bill was £180 !! Am I the only one astounded that they think that that amount is a money saving amount. I am sure all of us MSE'ers could show them differently.

  • I didn't see it but what was the motive behind the feature? Surely the production team didn't think it was money saving sending dad off with a list and spending all that!!

I saw that and was also amazed that he was moneysaving but spent sooooo much money each week! There are 3 adults in my house and I do not even spend that much a fortnight, I sometimes would struggle to spend that in a month. Although I take a list with me like this gentleman did - I am flexible and unlike him alway look at special offers to see if I can adapt my meal plan in light of any deals that are on to save money.

  • Yes they honestly thought that he was a whizz at moneysaving !! They obviously don't do much research.
I put a comment on their FB page saying similar and funnily enough it seems to have disappeared unless it is that I just cannot access it on my phone.

I saw that, I was shouting at the TV! That makes an average month £720. Who spends that?! He was really proud of his 'Savings' too?

I spend less than that on organic per week for two adults and a milk-guzzling Labrador.
  • oh my, didn't see if but we are 2 adults 3 kids and i probably spend £50£60 a week on everything inc loo roll.
How the heck can £180 be moneysaving? You could have a takeaway every night for that and still have £40 for everything else.
  • I did post on Daybreaks FB wall saying words to that effect but funnily enough it disappeared
