Default Reporting - Advice Please

I have one remaining default on my file and would like some clarification about it, if someone could help me with it please.
According to the Experian report the date of default is stated as, 08/01/2008. So according to that it will be Jan 2014 before it drops off the file.
However the account details show 64 months worth of status 8 entries (status 8 indicating the account is in default), so that suggests to me that the account should drop off after another 8 entries, which would make it July 2013.
So does anybody know which is liable to be correct and when I am liable to see this millstone drop from around my neck? I know that either way we are only talking about 6 months but as this is the only thing stopping me moving my credit rating forward, 6 months is still a long time.
Obviously they have been reporting it to be in default for 6 months before they officially registered it as such, can they do this?
Thanks in advance:)

Defaults drop off your credit file 6 years from default date, not number of default entries so in your case, 08/01/2014 however you need to allow a few days for updating the file.LBM 11/2009 Total Debts 11/2009 £44624 with DFD 2015

Thanks for the reply, I had hoped that the defult reports might have counted:(
So in effect this will have affected my credit report for 6 and a half years, not 6 by the time it drops off the report but hey ho I guess thats the way it goes. At least by Jan 14 I will be totally clean with plenty of positive reporting.0
