Tips/Shampoo suggestions for greasy hair...

So as the title says...has anyone got any shampoo suggestions or tips for greasy hair?

I find myself having to wash it pretty much every day. I know this doesn't help however it just looks horrid if I leave it for longer than a day or 2 :(

I have tried Head & Shoulders shampoo specifically for greasy hair however I found that this stripped my hair of its colour and so I stopped using it.

I'm currently using a Herbal Essence shampoo...(I think it's called clarifying)...it's not too bad however I'm not overly impressed...

Anyone else here suffer from greasy hair? What do you use?

I am also contemplating having my hair stripped as 1, I want to go lighter (NEVER dye your hair black as you cannot go back!) and 2, this might help dry it out? Has anyone had experience of stripping their hair?

Thanks in advance! :j

Have you tried either a sulphate free shampoo based on a gentler surfactant like cocoamidopropyl betaine or conditioner-only washing? Sulphate surfactants found in most commercial shampoos strip, thin and irritate the skin which can cause it to produce more sebum to try to protect itself. Daily washing worsens that. Don't expect overnight results - although you might get that as I did - it may take a few days or weeks for the irritation to calm and the skin barrier to repair.

Secondly try a dry shampoo like Batiste in the roots (wipe off excess with a soft microfibre towel), cold water blast your scalp before washing to release the oils from the sebaceous glands, warm water only not hot, cool/ warm for hairdryer never the hot setting.

Also review the rest of your lifestyle: unhealthy habits like poor diet, smoking or being overweight can put the body into a state of stress and cause systemic inflammation which contributes to skin irritation and can increase sebum production.

What product have you used to dye black, is there any silicone (-cone, -conol, -xane) in the formula? Do you use straighteners? If yes to either the colour might not come out, but you have little to lose by doing a strand test with a product like Jo Baz Max or Colour B4 Extra. You may need to use several packs and follow the instructions to the letter. I stripped burgundy to strawberry blonde with these.
