They only credit check people. Not addresses.

On your report it will 'financial link' them with you. I *believe* they then do a search on the person you are linked to also.

when are you financially linked to some one then? is it only if u have joint bank account or just at same address

sorry for all the questions just want to make sure i wont be ruining somebody elses credit score

A creditor / DCA, legally, can only credit search the person who is responsible for the debt, even if a financial link appears on that persons credit file, they do not have the authority to credit search others as it raises DPA issues.

A financial association or link, would be created on a persons credit file when they co-sign a credit agreement, or open a joint account. Yes, a joint bank account will create a financial association

Best bet is to check your file, any associations will be clearly displayed on there.
