I have requested they remove the default based on their lack of paperwork and the only paperwork they could provide stated I was a woman when I am in fact a man.

So you disputed ever receiving an advance?

Why did you offer a settlement then?

By offering settlement you admitted guilt. From the lenders perspective cost of collection outweighed the benefit of full settlement.

So within their rights to register a default. Be interested to know if they back down.
  • I 100% never recieved anything from them, the first I knew of default was when looked on equifax. I have never been contact by the company it was always me doing the chasing.
  • Hi,

I spoke to an Independant Mortgage Advisor today who after viewing my credit report, that had I not had a default within the last 2 years, as a first time buyer I could have obtained a 85% LTV mortgage.

Unfortunately, I have. However, he may be able to arrange something for you with your default being 4 years ago.
