Which places are cheaper than Tesco for canned goods?

I'm planning on doing a big long-run shop. Think 50 cans of beans, 50 cans tomatoes, 50 cans soup, 50 cans pineapple, 50 cans peaches, 50 cans tuna, 100L UHT milk, etc. I always normally just buy Tesco Value. Just wondering if this would be cheaper anywhere else.

What about places like Makro, or other wholesale suppliers?0

Costco might do you if you know someone with a card; they often do tins in packs of 12 or 24. It's a bit hit or miss pricewise though; Costco can be quite pricy on certain things."Save £12k in 2019" #120 - £100,699.57/£100,0000

Try searching mySupermarket. You'll also see an option Sort by Relevance, click this, then click Price Per Unit (Low to High). Should hopefully help.
ASDA's Smartprice Baked Beans are a couple of pence cheaper than than Tesco. Tesco's are 28p/Can, ASDA's 26p/Can (6.3p/100g).
Branston Baked Beans (4x410g) are currently £1.27 (7.7p/100g) at Tesco until 04/12/2012 and Sainsbury's until 27/11/2012.
Apparently Lidl's Campo Largo Baked Beans are not bad as well. Not sure exactly how much they are though.
KTC 400g tins as mentioned by HappyMJ are as follows:
Black Eyed Beans
Chick Peas
Chopped Tomatoes & Peeled Plum Tomatoes
White Kidney Beans
Red Kidney Beans & also Chilli Beans
Tesco have East End on offer as well, similar to the KTC offer above.
Check the world food/ethical aisles for both KTC and East End. Not sure if these are stocked in the regular aisles as well. They may also be stocked at the end of each aisle as well.0 -
Poundland is doing the 800g cans of Heinz cream of tomato and cream of chicken for £1 atm and the smaller tins various soups 2 for £1.0

wouldn't you be better waiting for offers - for example branston beans can be got for £1 for 4 periodically from eg Lidl. Unless you have a long way to travel to get to a supermarket.0

If you sign into mySupermarket, click on a product image of your choice and then click on the ADD PRICE ALERT button. They'll let you know by email when the price drops in any of the top four stores.
You could also try searching HotUKDeals from time to time as people post their latest offer spots on their.
And keep an eye on Lidl's current food offers leaflet every Thursday on their website. On the back of the current food offers leaflet you'll also see their half price weekend offers. You'll also find this in store as well.
I nearly forgot to mention, there's also Approved Food, which specialises in out-of-date stock.
Some of the goods sold on Approved Food are past their “best before” date but are never past their “use by” dates. This appears why most of their products are sold at low prices.
More info can be found here.
Incidentally, use by dates are for foods that go off quickly, such as smoked fish, meat and ready-prepared salads. Such items shouldn't be eaten after the date even if they look and smell fine.
Best before dates signify when the item is no longer in optimum quality. Except in the case of eggs, they do not signify when food has gone off but can usually still be eaten with no ill-effects afterwards.
Common sence usually applies as well; sight (does it look off), smell, and taste. If any or all three fail then chuck it.
You might also like to have a look at the Supermarket Shopping Tips guide as well.
Supermarket Own Brand Guide is also a helpful website as well. This reviews supermarket's own brands. It pits them against their brand name rivals and gives a mark out of 10.0 -
I've found some tins cheaper in Home Bargains if you have one nearby. I bought tins of Del Monte pears for 29p last week. Poundstretchers are worth checking out too.0
