Off sick but not entitled to sick pay from company

Hi I have been employed by a company for a year, but have been off sick for the last 2 weeks due to gastroenteritis, I know im not entitled normal pay but would I be entitled to ssp ? and do I have to claim it or should my company pay it.

Assuming you earn (from memory) more than £107 per week the company must pay you SSP. They may or may not get some or all of it back from the government but that is not your problem.
You do not get paid for the first three days. For the first week you self certify after that you need a doctor's certificate.0
