Exactly my sentiments.
I think we've had the world and his dog on here when it comes to advice.
I work in a solicitors and answer phones on rotation with the other PA/legal secretary.
I've had estate agents go off on me and demand I look for a file immediately and tell me I was only a secretary! That time yes I swore at agents and got told off. However it's my 1st legal sec job and despite what others may say, prob because our clients are mostly stressed out (you rarely see a sol for fun!) some are far more rude than others. Yet other clients demand way more attention than is usual eg on a costed conveyance job.
But now I am extra polite, put estate agents through to my boss and if anyone is very rude and/or ask not to be spoken to rudely if I terminate a call.
If you look at op's history it's not her 1st legal sec job and she had problems in that job.
Especially as a legal secretary or otherwise it is best not to argue.
Any unwise advice from dizzy rascal et al will only serve to ultimately get op the sack.0 -
I work as a Secretary and following a complaint against me by a client for rudeness I have been given a Final Written Warning. I understand my employers have written to the client advising her of this. Have they broken the law, i.e. Data Protection Act?
Just to piggyback on this I'm surprised (and would expect no doubt) a complaint from client to Legal ombudsman or law society. Which the client would well be within her rights to do either now or down the line.
Only this week my boss had complaint against colleague who hadn't done divorce case well (not sent off letters etc). They had met with said client and given full refund but client (rightly or so wrongly) felt strongly enough about matter to take it further.
I do hope OP has taken detailed chronology, notes, has time recorded etc as this could well come back to bite her. Hence her employers giving the warning.0
