Does anyone know, if I can do a Criminal Record check on myself?
If so, any useful websites?
Many Thanks

as far as I knew it actually costs new employers etc to do a CRB disclosure on someone so doubt if you can do it yourself0

You can get a subject access through your local police station usually for the £10 minimum fee"Life may not always be the party you wish for, but whilst here you may aswell dance"!!!
Murphy's NMPC Memb No 239! Dippychick's De-clutter club Member No 6! - onto room no 2!
My Avatar? Arnie and Casey, proud parents to Storm and Tsu born 19/01/2009!!! - both now in new homes and called Murron and Burger!0 -
thin you can get a standard CRB on yourself but not an enhanced, by getting a form from the police station, however i done a standard and my boss done an enhanced and they both had different things on them!0

You cannot do a CRB check on yourself. You can only get a CRB check if you have an offer of employment. The reason is that sometimes your employers certificate may show 'soft' information that will not show up on your copy of the certificate. 'soft' information may be released if relevant to the job you're applying for - e.g., it will show any allegations made against you even if no charges were bought, of it will tell the employer if you are currently under investigation.
To find out what is held on the Police National Computer (cautions, convictions, warnings and bind-overs - not parking fines) you can ask for a subject access request at your local police station. Costs a tenner and takes about 2 months.
Hope that helps.0 -
From my understanding the Disclosure Scotland certificate is pretty much the same as a CRB. The website is:-
https://www.disclosurescotland.co.uk
We obtain peoples basic disclosure (£20) as part of my work, but more detailed disclosures are available. It's amazing what we've discovered about some people!!!
By the way, it might look as though it's only for Scottish people. It's not.0 -
Yeah Disclosure Scotland is the one that the Licencing Authorities (Local Authority) insist that you use, and you can do it all online. It's a basic one, I believe.0

Is this the same as the 'National Identification Service' one?0 -
I don't know I'm afraid Fester.
I've received basic ones which have detailed offence, date and court. It's fairly basic information but I would think it's rare that you would need any further details. You can quite easily determine how serious the crime is and whether the conviction is spent.
But then if you're doing a check on yourself you would know the details of any offence better than most people, even the judge.0 -
sorry for being nosey, but why would you want to police check yourself0
