Tax refund - self employed

Hi
I'm after bit of advice please, my accountant filed my 2011/2012 tax return before the deadline date of 31st oct, he advised me I have already paid too much tax (on account) my profits were not nearly as much as I expected. He said they would refund me the extra I have paid.
My question is do I need to Contact them to get this or will they send this to me automatically? And how long does it normally take?

They'll send it to you...not too long maybe 4 to 8 weeks hopefully sooner.

I normally put the client's bank sort code and account number on the return and file it electronically. 4 weeks is the norm, 1 week is my personal best for the refund. Over weeks and there is likely a glitch, time to start chasing and see where the latest muck-up is.
