  • Old family red cabbage recipe - a bit vague sorry!

    Cut red cabbage into small pieces and soak in hot salty water for half an hour of so.
    Heat a bit of oil in a large pan and add a finely chopped onion, soften.
    Add some paprika and a grated peeled apple.
    Drain cabbage and add to the pan.
    Add a fair bit of white wine vinegar and undiluted ribena cordial and simmer. Keep adding vinegar/ ribena until cabbage is cooked.
    I like to cook mine for about 6 hours until it resemble a sort of chutney.it' fairly sweet (from the ribena) but had a lovely bite from the white wine vinegar.
    Hope you like it as much as my family do. :-)

    Since the choccie and biscuit glitch began I've not found a single tin of Vinnies:(I'm beginning to think maybe they don't stock them here, but I have more than made up for it with the others, but its a case of you always want what you can't get(Good job Nannylala managed to get some;))
