Old family red cabbage recipe - a bit vague sorry!
Cut red cabbage into small pieces and soak in hot salty water for half an hour of so.
Heat a bit of oil in a large pan and add a finely chopped onion, soften.
Add some paprika and a grated peeled apple.
Drain cabbage and add to the pan.
Add a fair bit of white wine vinegar and undiluted ribena cordial and simmer. Keep adding vinegar/ ribena until cabbage is cooked.
I like to cook mine for about 6 hours until it resemble a sort of chutney.it' fairly sweet (from the ribena) but had a lovely bite from the white wine vinegar.
Hope you like it as much as my family do. :-)2 years since my OH gave up smoking - total saving approx £5475!!!! :T0 -
