i love making costumes in my dd school last xmas they did a play and it was about snow sun and animal (dnt ask it confused us all)

any way my daughter was the sun so i made her costume i thought it was fab :rotfl: most other mums payd £13 to amazon for animal costumes i was so shocked as i think 13 for what it was was awfull and if i know id wuld have made costumes ad sold them at fraction of cost and donated half to school funds

as i have a few suitcases full of fabrics /oldclothes buttons, sequins and im always rummaging in charity shops and i liek to make stuff in my spare time , when i was very skint last year i made 2 princess dresses and 2 pirate costumes for my dd to give as party gifts , also made my best friend a lovely costume jewelry neckless and ring and braclet and friends eaither a ring or other iteam and baked the granparents lovley stuff .made candles for mum and mil my o/h made some beer (was rank) but him and m8t drank that .

    i felt like kirsty alsop/ina garden :o:rotfl:

now i have this lovely thread and my o/h has been given the all clear to go back to work things are lookign up

Lovely to read something like this.....

Years ago my DS went to school as Stuart Little, (still have the giant head we made) and also a Giant with a club made from cardboard egg box sections that he couldn't take in assembly because it was a 'weapon' He also went in on 'book day' as Dennis the Mennis...... have never paid for an outfit for him, only for raw materials.
I also made Santa suits for 5 little lads including my son for a Christmas lights switch on display using red fleece material from cheap large red blankets from QD, and some oddments of white fur.

It must have been something I learnt from my Mum..... she made me an out fit when she very kindly entered me into a fancy dress at a holiday park when I was about 7, with a family friends lad who was 3, and with very few 'props' to hand, we were put in as Adam and Eve...... I still remember the little lad being asked who he was dressed up as, and his reply was ' MY DAD'..... For some reason, we won. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Thank you for bringing back these memories for me. :j

Yeah me neither looking at it. Never mind, I dont need any after the last glitch anyway x
  • You sound very nifty with the old needle and thread, I wish I was good but I had to make do with normal old clothes lol

I've asked my neighbour to make his shepherds costume for the play as they are £10 most places and not that good either.

Sounds a good idea I bet loads of mums would buy them of you at half the cost, I know I would

when i was little unless my nana made my costume mum just but leggins and teatowl ,pilliowcase and we made do ,im just a crafty person so i love to make all sorts we saving for morgade adn cant wait to have my own home to decorate
I am good with a needle and sowing machine but o/h broke it bout 4 weeks ago when trying to fix his work trousers  i told him to wait till i get home but no he culdnt :mad: it was my nanas she gave it to me when i was 12 , so im hoping for a new on at xmas (he best get me one other wise ill have too:()

the mums at the school my daughter goes to like to have compertions( i think this) to see who can spend the most or lavish there kids in gifts/days out sweets . it rediculas theres kids with school shoes that cost more than i wuld spend i the life time of my daughter in primary school and i get her shoes in clarkes
so i dont think many wuld want costumes but i am going to put a notice up if the school will let me use there machine to sow them this year the play is stars moons and planets (we cant have normaly nativaty as it causes to much upset (sum mums wont have it if there child isnt mary/ main part i find it funny as most plays dnt go to plan and are jsut fun for kids and me:D:D )

i mentioned coupons once omg i was nearly thrown out the yard (slight exaration )but they wernt intrested instead they moan at price of shopping i tryed telling them out apgs wast of time i have one friend who dose it with me but not all the time as she busy working away in the big smokes of london :rotfl:

I had some shoes in my basket but it crashed before I could pay. Now out of stock. These would have been a perfect present for my daughter - I never have the money to buy her anything 'frivolous'. :(

I wonder how many pairs they actually had?

Expect to see a money off code to appease the people who couldn't get the shoes , pretty sure this is what they did last year.

    Just a marketing ploy.
  • I'm gunna try the Terry's all gold milk today me thinks :-)
