Transferring a train ticket

I think I'm going to need to write to someone important.
I have some train tickets booked to go from Norwich to London, then London to Aberdeen, tonight, and then back again a week later. Unfortunately my Mum is rather unwell overseas, and I think I'm going to have to go over there in the next couple of days. I've tried phoning the trainline who I booked the tickets with, and asked under the circumstances would I be able to use the tickets at another time. First call was just a robot answer - Sorry they're advance tickets, they can't be transferred, then I called again and asked to speak to a supervisor, explained things , and eventually got through to someone, they said yes I could transfer the tickets... Ah great thanks!..... They said something like £40... Oh. (All the tickets originally cost £80)
So I asked if there's anything they can do for me, considering the circumstances, got put on hold, then got cut off.
I called back, then to be told they can only discuss it with the card holder (my Mum paid for the tickets). So I said, look, I was just speaking to someone about this, so do me a favour and put me through (I was being calm and polite all the time).
So, I don't seem to be getting anywhere with the trainline call centre.
Who can I write to (at the trainline I guess) to see if I can get this resolved.... Not that I want to be dealing with all this at this time....

As you know, you cannot cancel Advance Single Tickets.

You can however, move the date at a cost of £10 per ticket, plus any difference in cost for the ticket at your new date and time.

Contact the trainline. Details on their website.

For a cheaper phone number, look on SayNoTo0870.

As an aside, don't use thetrainline in future.
    Almost everywhere else is cheaper.

I had to change the dates on some last year. It was £10 per ticket - the phone service was fairly useless as I ended up going into my local station and they just sorted it for me straight away. Might be worth a try if you have the time?
