onelife nappies

hi there

does anyone here use the onlife nappies?
i have purchased them for my baby but am a bit confused i choose to only purchase size two and three wraps as size two states 10-20lb and size 3 20- 35lb which will cover us for most of the time.
the thing is i want to start using them now and the 10lb wrap is too big, but when i look on there website my size wraps do not match up to the sizes they state on there so now do not know if i should buy size 1 or newborn. i don't think thois makes much sense but if there are any nappy advisors out there that would be willing to chat to me i'd really appreciate it

thanks

    Hi there,

I use onelife nappies however have never used their wraps. I did a lot of research before buying and initially found that motherease wraps sounded the best option. I use motherease rikki wraps (with velcro), I tried the airflow (with poppers) but preferred the velcro ones. I found their sizes to be pretty accurate and have never had any problems with leaks. The only downside I have found is that the edging can wear a bit and gets slightly bobbly after a few months and rubbed on my dd's legs causing chaffing. She has quite chubby legs so this added to the problem, but I found that they were worse after washing them with the nappies (with no fabric conditioner). I now wash them with the normal laundry with fabric conditioner and they are much softer and don't rub so much.

I also currently use nature babies wraps (with poppers and very cute and funky designs) which I really like and have had no problems with so far and will buy more of these next time round.

I emailed them directly from their website with some questions and they offered to send me my first wrap at 1/2 price as a trial (normally £7.50), dunno if they do this all the time but worth a quick email?

I found the forums on https://www.babycentre.co.uk to be really helpful when choosing and buying nappies and accessories and also for any general advice on washing them etc

    HTH and good luck!

I've yet to start on nappies but from what I've seen so far you usually need newborn wraps to begin with https://www.thenappylady.co.uk do a loan pack of newborn wraps at a good price as you don't need them for very long and then you'll be able to go onto the bigger ones. If you're not sure then phone or email onelife and ask, usually nappy companies are very helpful
  • Hi,

The onelife nappies are basically the same as the Motherease Onesize so, as someone said, the Motherease wraps will go fine over them (and, imo, are of a better quality).

You were right to buy the medium and large sizes as many people don't get much use out of small wraps as babies quite often reach 10lb relatively quickly, and often before parents are ready to start tackling cloth nappies. However, if you do want to start early (good for you!), then yes, you can get the wrap hire kit from The Nappy Lady which is a good way of starting off without spending too much - you get to keep them for as long as you need them. Alternatively, if you wanted to stick with the Onelife wraps, and you are sure that the smallest wraps you've got will fit from 10lbs, then I would got for the Newborn size. I see what you mean about the sizings being different, but I think if you get the Size 1's they will be the same as the ones you have already, iyswim.

    Hope that helps a bit!

i found one life naps only useful when baby is 3 months old, otherwise they are very gappy. find a nappy library (see https://www.wen.org) or local group and they can advise on newborn naps.

i used tot bots size 1, but even they were gappy at birth (9lb baby).

for short period i used mothercare shaped terries (not on sale anymore). try folding terries with nappy nippas at this age.

    good luck!

    hi there
thanks for the replies. i went back to the place i originally bought my nappies from as they stated up to 12lb on the box. only to open them and discover that they are 10- 18 marked inside, so i called one life who explained that they have changed what sizes they are recommended for as they were out. so the new sizes on the web are correct not what it states in my wraps. and as an apology for the confusion are sending me 3 newborn wraps for free!
so just in case anyone else is confused like i was go by the size inside the label not the weight so if it says size 2 then just match that agaist what they state size two is on there website. and if your still confused give them a call they were really helpful! i can't wait for the wraps to arrive how sad is that!!!

glad you got it sorted moo. My understanding from friends who use cloth nappies is that companies go out of their way to be helpful if you have problems so it's good to know that that proved true in this case.

    Hi,

I too use OneLife nappies and wraps on my son who is 11 months old, and was initially confused by the new sizing that OneLife have used. I think they have changed the sizing numbering at the same time as introducing the XS velcro wrap. Therefore buying XS makes most sense - go with their definition of weight suitability rather than the name of the size.

    HTH
