    Hi these are fabulous ideas,

If anyone has seen any 3 for 2 or better prices for moshi monster advent calandar I'd appreciate you posting.

Can't decide if the beauty one is worth it or not.

Also I saw Liz Earle has an advent calandar, it's £100 though and not looked to see what you get in it to see if its worth it.

    Many thanks

I really really really wanted the National Trust dolls house calendar but it seems to have sodl out everywhere, so I have bought myself a Jacquie Lawson e-advent calendar. It look like there will be lots of lovely animations. Its great for sending to faraway friends and family too.

I think this is the most unusual I've heard of:

    Beach-hut_1541750c.jpg

Brighton Beach Hut's advent calendar using real beach huts! This is a Telegraph article from 2009 but they do it every year apparently. I haven't seen it myself but looks as though it may be interesting.

    There's a Moshi Monsters one

I've seen a Thorntons Chocolate one in my local Tesco.

A few years ago I bought my DD one that has a mini-book in -each book tells a story relating to Christmas, either as an extract or a short story. Each book has a loop to be hung on the Christmas tree afterwards.

I had one where the books collectively told the story of A Christmas Carol :)

    I loved this one
WOODEN CHRISTMAS ADVENT CALENDAR REINDEER HEAD WITH JUTE NUMBER BAGS

but at £32.99 I couldn't really afford it this year even though it could be used year after year. I'll save up and get one next year it think,

For thousands of people this Christmas, their must-have gift is far more vital than the latest gadget or toy – it’s blood. Please don’t let the festivities and cold weather prevent you from giving them the ultimate gift… give blood.
  • My friend is looking for an unusual advent calendar. Good thing I saw this post. Thanks for the tips. I'll tell it to her.
