Holidays when BR

Hi everyone
It'll be 4 weeks this week since I went BR, gone quickly! Couple of hiccups but doing ok. Sending all my bumpf off to the OR this week. Bit annoyed as someone had tampered with my letter from the OR that came through as in slit it open!! Also can you believe, a week after going BR, I get a letter through the post from a 'debt solution' company saying they could help me and overturn the BR!! Go away!
Anyway, I just wondered, what happens if my OH wants to take me away on holiday and wants to pay? Am I even allowed? I have a holiday allowance fund that is allowed. But my OH wants to take me away - stressful year. I guess I can wait until after AD but I thought I'd ask?
Also, I am trying to keep my new bank account in check and neat. Can the OR request to view statements of it? It was opened after BR. It's fine if they do but just be good to know!
Thanks

No reason why you cannot go on holiday.
You OR could ask to see statements. They would only ever ask if there was a particular reason though. Happens so rarely that I'm not sure I can recall it ever happening to anyone here.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

YOU'RE KIDDING! That happened to me!!!! The original documents I first received from the insolvency service (in a window a4 envelope I think, that had the I.S. logo blatently across it) arrived having been systematically torn open. I had to ring the I.S. to tell them, and make sure all the stuff that should've been there was there.
Perhaps some idiot at the sorting office just thought erm, a government agency would send hard cash through standard mail? It's odd, because I think its one of the only letters I've ever received, where the sensitive info inside (that I am bankrupt) - is published publicly on the Insolvency Service website's register anyway....
I'm really shocked to find that (probably) royal mail staff seem to target this mail... what bloody idiots!
As for your holiday, like others said, no reason why not - I guess the issue would come if you were to spend excessive amounts while you were there... you still have your essential monthly budget to go off anyway, so it isn't like they could be critical of having had a meal or something, but just try to keep expenditure not on your accounts personally, and if anybody has given you any cash, keep it as cash, and spend it as cash..
Most importantly, enjoy your holiday
If somebody wants to take you away, then it isn't anything you should feel uneasy about regarding bankruptcy.
And as I look out my window at driving rain and grey winter north eastern english skies, I promise I'm not at all jealous :P
Enjoy x0 -

Fermi, I wondered about this (sorry to hijack the holiday post to ask but) - is it very rare this happens then? I always wondered how on earth they come about things like a bankrupt individual having come into a lump sum etc (I was looking at registers of BRU/BROs and the reasons there) - the reason I ask is that in my past 8 months of bankruptcy, I've been up and down, and on two occasions, relapsed out of abstention from drink and drugs, and so my accounts show strange activity like emergency transfers in from my parents when I was totally pennyless, one payday loan which I thoroughly regret, and also stuff like additional student finance.
I fully intend from here on in to be honest, but I worried that they might just at the end of the year demand all my statements and come down like a tonne of bricks on me for any odd tenner than I didn't explain.0 -
My IS envelope had been opened too. I thought it was my son for a while given the franked office postmark but he definitely doesn't know about my BR so it must have been before it arrived at my house."Our prime purpose in this life is to help others. I'm actually baffled.... considering how many christmas/birthday cards and things I've had opened (maybe one or two, ever) - why on earth are I.S. letters being targetted?!
Suppose its not worth getting in too much of a stress over, I'm just utterly baffled! x0 -
Thanks everyone for your replies. Good to know that I should be ok going away then!!
Re the tampering of the IS letters, the first one got 'lost' in the post!!!! Maybe people don't understand what the word 'insolvency' means! i.e. They are certainly not going to be sending you packets of cash!0
