Using Someone's Details to Get a Mortgage, or Loan

We've got a friend over who's in a bit of a twist about her details possibly being used (by someone else) for a mortgage. The person(s) has/have access to her personal belongings (yep, her family) and she suspects something is going on.

What is the best/easiest/quickest way to find out for herself? A credit check?

Any advice will be gratefully received. She's a bit upset ATM.

The £2 reports from each of the credit reference agencies is the best place to start.

I assume there's no mileage in asking the individual concerned and expecting a straight answer?

There is a lot of lying and cheating in the family by the sounds of it. She's an easy target.

Fraud is a serious offence. Not something that people do lightly.
