It is widely anticipated that a white paper on the introduction of a flat-rate state pension will now be published in the days following the autumn statement in December, after a series of delays.

What the "period in question"? AP entitlement could be anything since 1978, and I think contracting out was allowed into personal pensions from around 1988.gadgetmind wrote: »Not during the period in question as she hasn't worked for 18 years.
Has she got any AP entitlement from claiming child ben, carer's allowance etc, or if she's not working due to disability I think some of the disability benefits give AP credits.
It's odd that a lot of people are reporting AP entitlement being reduced in later state pension quotes, I can understand a small reduction due to later pension age, or in the case of people with deferred final salary schemes, but otherwise why would AP entitlement reduce?0 -

Very interesting. Can't access that link (or post up a link) because it requires you to register but if you do a google search in inverted commas for 'state pension hornet's nest' you should be able to find and read the article without registering.
Note the Autumn Statement is on 5th December so that would suggest the white paper will be in the 'days' after that.I came, I saw, I melted0 -

Yes, really get the feeling the govt is moving too fast on this and it'll cause chaos. However they do it, there'll be lots of whinging from those who lose, or who don't gain as much as others. Existing pensioners will whinge if new pensioners get more, those contracted out of the state scheme who are expecting the full amount will whinge if they apply a COD, and if they don't apply a COD those who stayed contracted in will whinge about the double benefit those who contracted out will get...Very interesting. I don't often say this but the previous govt policy seemed much more sensible, freeze the NI UAP while indexing the LET with earnings, then eventually the LET will equal the UAP (around 2030 probably), and then you have a flat-rate second state pension. Then they can talk about merging them.0
