Mortgage renewal question - credit checked?

Apologies if this is covered but I couldnt find it if it is....
Just a quickie I'm sure...
My 5 year mortage deal is coming to an end and its going to drop on the Halifaxs flexible rate - thats ok as it is lower then my fixed rate was.
However I'm sure that won't last forever and I like a little long term security in that I like to know what I'll be paying each month for a few years ahead.
If I want to do 'switch to a new deal' will i be credit checked by Halifax or will they just switch me over to the new 'deal'
I now dont have much equity (if any in the house) and wonder what implication this might have.
Thanks in advance
