credit check query

My son has been living, working (self employed) and renting in London for four years during which time he has kept his address for bank accounts and credit card at home address because of regular moves and shared postboxes in flats. He is now in position to apply for mortgage and informal discussion with bank is positive. He is on electoral role at home and has also voted whilst in London. How would he approach credit check, he tried to look at his score via Noddle but it wouldn't accept his query with London address presumably because this didn't match address for accounts? Has no dubious credit histrory and doesn't want to fall foul of a check because of an address discrepancy. Any advice welcome, many thanks!

There will be issues regarding him holding bank accounts etc at one address whilst he is resident in another - this will come up as a linked address with the CRAs, and require some explaining - although if he is on the VR at his main residence in London, this will help ... slightly !
Try Check my file.com - they are a multii agency search engine (for all 3 CRAs - experian, equifax and call credit), with a free 30 day trial and easy to cancel on line - here is a link to their site for ease of reference .... http://www.checkmyfile.com/
Hope this helps

Thanks for this, would changing address with banks solve this or would it show as a very recent change on history?0

Yes, and it may still need to be explained .... but if there is a plausible reason why he left things at home for so long (without realising the implications it may have, at which point he has amended this), then I don't think the lender will be too harsh.
What they are looking for is where peeps have mulitple addresses, in an attempt/designed, so that they can hide a less than perfect credit history !
If everything about your Son stacks and is clean (plus the fact he is also on the VR at his true main res in London) I'm sure it won't be a deal breaker, BUT as I say, the UW may well ask for a documented explanation as to why he has effectively held 2 primary residences (ie lived in one, and another where all his official docs & banking, credit facilities etc were registered).
It will be case of suck and see witht them, of course if you are using a broker he should firstly discuss this with his BDM to get a handle on how the UWs will view, and to obtain before submission any info they will need to support the issue.
Hope this helps
