From our experience, once you've built up a decent storecupboard & freezer stash, plus you[ve really got into the habit of making an extra portion for the freezer, you find your spend reduces, certainly on some months. I always start my meal plans from a starting position of what I've already got in the freezer & it's amazing how much there often is. For instance, our big shop this week was only for fresh fruit & veg, a few items for packed lunch sandwiches, milk, etc, as everything else we'd got already. I'd definitely say that using a freezer well saves serious money.

  • Yes you can freeze chickpeas. I freeze them when they're cooked into a meal or when they've been soaked and boiled for 10 minutes then they're ready to just put into a dish I'm cooking.

We freeze pizza dough too, let is rise then either freeze it as a ball or roll it out flat then shove in the freezer wrapped in clingfilm or foil.
i do both but leave the pizza dough in a bag in a ball

I read on here that people freeze flour to prevent bugs, do you leave it in the bag and put it in a tub in the freezer or does it need to go in something else.
