Take a look at our online FAQs re what is meant by title deeds and how properties are dealt with once registered.

As other posters have suggested the deeds and documents you have are likely to contain a variety of information which may or may not be relevant to any future sale, mortgage etc of the property.

If the property is registered then any future buyer or lender will rely on the central land register for confirmation of ownership and the details relevant to the legal title. They will not rely on the old deeds as proof of ownership for example. Our online FAQs and Public Guides explain how this works along with other aspects of the advantages and characteristics of a registered title.

Take a look at Public Guide 3 and Public Guide 8 for a better understanding

kingstreet and zzzLazyDaisy are quite right with their advice and by and large we would suggest that they are simply kept safe just in case they are needed at some future date but bear in mind that providing the ownership is registered they will not be relied upon for any future sale for example.
