I have a friend currently serving in Afghanistan. I'd love to send him a Christmas parcel but haven't got the foggiest what to put in it?!

Any ideas? I don't have long to put it together: last postage date for active operations is 3rd Dec.

Would it be worth posting this in the armed forces section of the forum - they might have more idea what people can get hold of/are more likely to be missing?
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

When the OH is away he always wants tea bags, coffee sachets and tabasco sauce! In true MS fashion, Sainsbury's currently have pocket packs of tabasco reduced to 39p :D
  • That's it!! I knew forgotten something!

Coffee and tea - those little sachets of "special" coffee - Latte, cappacino, type thing, or hot choc are good

Think the tabasco s probably quite an individual wish!!!!

My friend was out in Afghanistan a few years back and all he wanted was Jaffa Cakes! I think I ended up sending him 4 packets in one parcel and he was in his element!

  • I read if your sending chocolate to send individual bars that are wrapped as its likely to melt but can still be enjoyed. Your not allowed to send alcohol last time I looked. If you google it I think a lot of suggestions come up

Rehome an unwanted prize or gift with a seriously ill child through Postpals.co.uk
  • I don't think you can send FHM, it would be considered offensive in Afghanistan? I know it isn't allowed on flights leaving RAF Brize Norton, there is a big sign up in departures.
