Lenders like to see people who have been living at the same address, and working for the same employer, for at least a year.
Anyway, I think that they have helped you. A thousand pounds is an awful lot of money to spend on a bicycle: unless you are so serious about cycling that you would be willing to take that much money out of your house deposit savings, you would do better getting a good secondhand one. And paying interest in order to borrow for a guitar makes very little sense.
An important point: if you buy something the money is spent. Borrowing rather than taking the money out of savings makes no difference at all. Apart from anything else, mortgage lenders can see your total debt and it doesn't help when approaching them.0
