Morning ally & jonno  thanks for the kick off ally & the website for DIY training! Jonno have you started your mat leave already? That seems to have come round quick!

My day will look something like this:

    * [STRIKE]update spends in diary - starting to forget at this point. I continue to try to keep a spending diary but I always forget things. I will double check with bank balances & ccs....
    [/STRIKE]
    * [STRIKE]check banking and ccs :rotfl:[/STRIKE]

    * [STRIKE]going into town for 9 as a shop is having a sale and I saw something I want to grab for my bff for Christmas[/STRIKE] yay :j got gift for bff & mil - RRP £52 for £10 :T

    * call in at the car parts shop where one of the guys is very lovely and see if there's anything that can be done by me with my car bumper before I think about taking it to the garage

    * [STRIKE]go and collect item from freecycle[/STRIKE] this is the loveliest woman alive! Instead of 1 item she had 2 whole bags for me as well :A

    * [STRIKE]call woman with kitchen for sale and (hopefully) pop round at lunchtime to look. If it works out the way I hope it does it'll save us several hundred pounds :T[/STRIKE]

    * [STRIKE]make cheese & onion pasties ala lemmings :A (for my oh & db while they are working on the kitchen ceiling tomorrow)[/STRIKE] these came out lovely :T but massive - I made 4 out of a block of pastry. Think I'll make 6 out of a block next time. Might also look at a recipe for a vegetable pastie mmmmm

    * make banana cake while the oven is on will do this today

*[STRIKE] prepare veg for lamb stew and leave instructions for oh to throw in the sc tomorrow morning[/STRIKE]

Not so df (but very :j  :j) I am going off to London for a friend's leaving drinks/party - can't wait to see my friends who I haven't seen since early summer :T actually was very DF :j I only spent £20 and that included my breakfast this morning on the way home ;)

ok that's me, better get on then! x

    Things for today:

    * going to look at the kitchen in an hour - need to charge batteries as oh can't come

    * eating hm picked beetroot right now (BR from the allotment)

    * db & oh putting up ceiling in kitchen

    * do a covering letter and tweak CV for a job I really want an interview for

    * cleaning & preparing for work for the next week

    * go for a run this evening

    * ask db re niece & nephew for xmas - then I think I only have a couple left to get

    That'll do me :T

Hope you're all having a lovely Sunday x

 Where has the day gone to!

Had a terrible night so that's maybe why - was up 2 times to change (night sweats - terrible!). Not good as it disturbs your sleep but also really struggling with the amount of PJs I'm going through ..... that was 3 sets last night:eek:

Feel like I've not achieved anything today ...... started sorting out household filing yesterday and have had a rethink / reorganise again today:o - which seems to have taken all morning!

Used to file stuff by calendar year - but this fell down when I was trying to find my original mortgage docs & realised I had no idea which file they'd be in .... and the old ones are all up in the loft & not easy to get to.

Decided I should have things like mortgage stuff, insurance docs, car registration stuff etc together so I can find them year to year and also so they'd be quick & easy to grab if there was an emergency and I needed to leave the house ...... getting there but I keep changing my mind about what I should have in what file!:o

    Still to do:
    • Usual daily stuff Done!
    • Washing (can't believe I haven't even got the washing on yet:eek:) Done!
    • Hang up washing Done!
    • Ironing Done!
    • Find something for dinner Done!
    • Finish filing as have paper everywhere atm:eek:Done!
    • Go for a walk as looks quite nice out - managed a bit further yesterday but still pretty dismalDone!
    • Watch F1 Not on yet!

On a positive - money is in my paypal account for the cat food :j & have organised the courier to pick it up tomorrow (1/2 the price of RM & they collect from the house - which is fab as I still couldn't get to the PO).

However, I'm seriously tempted to buy a storage tower to go in the useless, wasted space under the stairs (which ends up with stuff just chucked in and looks a total mess) - saw one when I was in my neighbours yesterday and couldn't believe I've never thought of it before (especially as I have these in the downstairs loo!).

Would be fantastic to tidy that space up (I really hate it) and have more storage space for dog towels as these end up all over the house:o but it's not a need so ......... £25 delivered from e*bay and have £15 in PP account mmmmmmmm:p

Wow! A couple of busy hours but feel better now that there's a few things crossed off the list!:D

Not sure if this counts but yesterday I opened an online savings account, an eSaver account, with the Principality Building Society.

I chose this account as the rate is ok but you can split it up in a virtual sense so that it shows as upto 5 "savings pots" but all the money stays in the same account - ideal for "Piggybanking"

To follow on from this, I've totally re-vamped my monthly Budget spreadsheet to allow for above "Piggybanking" from next month for Car Maintenance ; Opticians, Dental & Medicines ; House & DIY ; Christmas 2013 & Birthdays and .....a Holiday / Weekend Break (yeah right!..:rotfl:).

Hopefully, the above will stop some bills / expenses "creeping up" on me throughout 2013.

  • Hi everyone!

Can't believe how fast the weekend goes! I've really not done anything outside the house, so slightly deprived feeling!

    Anyway...
    • made enough SB to get a £5 voucher - went for M&S and can use on food as I'll be skint because mass catalogue payments are due soon!
    • reduced section in supermarket for lunch/tea today
    • make soup for week ahead
    • no alcohol - or hardly any!
    • watch stuff online and try to forget about Sky!!
  • Good evening everyone. A bit hungover today and waiting on big greasy takeaway being delivered......(I can hear the disapproving tut tuts from here lol)

    This weekend I:-

    Worked 5 hours OT
    Ironing all up to date
    Dinner from meal planner yesterday
    Got lift to night out
Taxi home was cheaper as we got dropped off at a short cut path and walked (some may say staggered) home
    Got OH to buy breakfast
    Dad made lunch
All lights off, curtains drawn and chill out tonight
Finally got gas refund cheque through
Submitted proper complaint to virgin and got personal reply. I've to call them tomorrow

    Also;
Just realised its free listing on eBay so ill upload some pics tonight

Ally - I've got RBS mortgage only. Do I still qualify for the insurance offer? Mines is up at the end of the month

    Good Evening my lovelies

Hi to all the regulars and welcome to any lurkers and newbies , you've joined a FAB supportive thread.

Not a lot has been achieved here today as we have had to take eldest grandson (6) back to his dads but it also meant we got to spend some time with our other grandchildren (2 year old boy & 8 month old twins), times like this I wish we lived closer (stepsons partner also has a girl of 13 too, so when he has his son from 1st relationship she seems to get over whelmed and struggles, so its nice to have him and hopefully when others are older they may want to come too - although not all at once, lol). Todays little list

Check Banks - Done (bit bleak)
    Check swapits - Done
Check Postcode on www.freepostcodelottery.com - Done
    General Tidy round - Done
    Washing - Done

Iron uniforms for us all for tomorrow -
Tea with mum - Done, also managed to do a little more sorting for her and de-cluttered a few bits (and also made more work for myself as well, lol, need to investigate selling some of her many, many knitting patterns & books)
Update Food Tracker - in progress (35lb, so far)
    Comps -
    Read - in progress
    Knit -
Check Christmas list and see how far I am -
Find: ally's post re: the past - Thanks RFTA
List few bits for sale on FB/netmums etc -

Hope you have all had a great weekend, love to you all :A

Today I've mainly been doing repairs myself as cheaply as possible an did a 7 hour shift at work:

~Sanded down battery contacts on OHs favourite clock with a nail file after the battery leaked and stopped the clock working.
Ordered new hands online for 99p.

~Re-used coat hooks from old flat in new house.

~Gave bed-frame a makeover. Fitted concealed brackets in each corner (from stores) to make frame solid as a rock and compensate for cracks.

~Re-used pair of curtains and blind from old flat in new house.Ordered Dylon dye to spruce up faded curtains. Got nectar points.

~Finished unpacking. Found lots of useful things including 8(?!) rolls of sellotape.

~Used company discount to change gas supplier.
    £65 cashback.
