Hello to all the lovely old stylers
I am trying to organise a batch buying/cooking weekend as getting sick of takeaways when tired after a long day at work and thought I would set aside a weekend to do this
My question is about marinating meat. I wondered if it was possible to buy meat and chicken, marinate it in spices/yogurt etc ( was thinking of tikka ) and then freezing the meat? I was thinking that then I could remove from the freezer and into the oven for cooking. Does anyone else know if this is a good idea? I thought maybe the marinade ingredients may affect the quality or texture of the meat once frozen
Thank you for reading :j

Well, the marinated pieces of cheap chicken from the butchers freeze perfectly well.
Fortunately, as I think with buy two get one tray free, marinated chicken everyday for a week would be a bit too much for anyone to eat!I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
Great thank you :j
Now I will add marinated chicken and meat to my batch cooking list
All the tips on this board are really appreciated, thank you to all who have contributed

I use ziplock bags because of this.
thanks for the tip, really appreciate it once again0 -

Hi there,
This seems to be quite a popular method - you add all the ingredients to a freezer bag (meal portion size) then put in freezer. To use, remove & defrost in fridge - ingredients marinate whilst defrosting.
There are loads of recipes for these ... Google the phrase "dump recipes for the freezer" - you'll get lots of results. If you want a specific type ie chicken .. just type chicken in front of the above phrase and it will narrow the results down a bit.

Wow so that's what dump chicken is! I had heard of the phrase while going through the old batch cooking threads but did not know what it is was (duh)
Thank you so much I have found a few websites with more details
